SNMD can prepare concept General Arrangement Drawings, Vessel Specifications and
Contracts for both new vessel owners and shipyards. Vessels designed by SNMD incorporate
the latest in both styling and fitout technology.
General Arrangement drawings can
be tailored to the shipyard / owner's requirements and include all necessary information
for vessel build quotations.
Vessels Specifications are also tailored to the shipyard
/ owner's requests and incorporate full inventories for fitout and machinery to enable
fast, easy cost estimating by the vessels builders.
Contracts can be drawn up between
the shipyard and the owner to ensure a quality product is produced.
Project Management
SNMD can act as project managers on behalf of the shipyard or the shipyards owner as an independent consultant. Our experience will ensure the smooth progression of the project whether it is a major refit or new build. Construction reports, tailored to the owner advise of the project's progression on weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.
Stability Evaluation and Reporting
SNMD regularly carry out stability evaluation and reporting on a wide range of vessels.
Stability can be assessed to any classification society or statutory authority's
requirements and stability reports are tailored to suit, thus ensuring prompt, hassle
free approval.
We utilise the Maxsurf suite of software and in-house developed spreadsheets
to assist in stability calculations.
Structural Design & Engineering
SNMD provide both shipyards and naval architects with extensive structural design
and engineering capabilities. Detailed drawings and construction manuals can be produced
to any classification society including DNV, Lloyds, ABS, B.V. and USL code. We can
operate as an extension of your existing design office or as an independent consultant,
thus expanding your own capabilities.
We are comfortable designing in steel, aluminium
and composite structures.
3D Modeling and Rapid Prototyping
3D modelling is the norm for all new designs. Once a solid model is produced it is
used to generate lines plans and structural drawings, through to surfaced models,
used for plate development and 3D profile cutting. Each design is 3D modelled to
ensure drawings are accurate and consistent.
Pipe runs can also be modelled to provide
spooling drawings for shipyards that ensure smooth onsite installation. SNMD can
also model other critical components such as anchor pockets and tender lifting arrangements
to guarantee correct operation.
Lines plans are created from the 3D model, producing
highly accurate drawings that are customised to suit the shipyards requirements.
To whatever technological level your yard works SNMD can provide the information
in a format that suits. From simple offset tables to paper, plywood or MDF templates
to full NC profile cutting files.
From kit boats to super yachts, SNMD has provided
plate development and NC profile cutting to ensure an accurate fit. SNMD provides
shipyards with full size templates for mould stations for fast accurate composite
mould construction thus reducing lofting hours. For steel and aluminium vessels all
components including shell plating can be provided.
Engine Room Design
For larger vessels, engine room design is critical and SNMD provides this service to shipyards ensuring smooth fitout and operation. Our engine rooms incorporate the latest technology, practicality and functionality. Particular attention is paid to noise and vibration. We have considerable experience in the super yacht industry with engine room layouts and systems design.
From simple schematics to complete spooling information for all piping systems including freshwater, fuel oil, lube oil, black and grey water, fresh and sea water cooling, compressed air, chilled water, air conditioning ducting, bilge pumping and fire fighting systems. Each system can be 3D modelled to ensure an accurate fit that does not interfere with structure, fitout or other pipe runs. Systems can be assessed for classification society approval with any such society. SNMD can provide detailed flow calculations and recommend the correct pump for the application.
